Choral Scholarships

Applications for 2025–2026

The Bristol Bach Choir is excited to launch its Choral Scholarship Programme for young singers eager to develop their choral skills in a well-established and respected Bristol-based choir.

We’re a friendly, auditioned group of 30–40 members committed to nurturing the next generation of choral talent. Scholars receive up to £1,000 per annum (pro rata), and all music is provided.

You don’t need formal singing lessons, but we’re seeking aspiring young musicians who:

· Want to sing in an SATB choir

· Have basic sight-reading ability

· Are open to solo or semichorus opportunities

· Thursday evenings during term time

· Central Bristol location

· Four concerts per year

To apply, you should:

· Be aged 18–30

· Live in or within easy reach of Bristol

· Be at Grade 6 standard or above (instrument or voice)

· Be able to commit to the choir’s rehearsal and concert schedule for the season 2025–2026

· Attend a short audition with our Musical Director and a committee member

Auditions will be led by Dr David Bednall, our Musical Director, and a committee member. You’ll be asked to:

· Complete vocal exercises (range, timbre, sight-reading)

· Perform a short piece of your choice
