TRISTAN HAMBLETON (Bass) Born in London, Tristan Hambleton
studied at St John's College, Cambridge, Heidelberg
Universität and then at the Royal Academy of Music, London.
During his time at RAM, he was awarded the inaugural ABRSM
scholarship, a Countess of Munster Trust Scholarship and the
D'Oyly Carte Trust Scholarship. Tristan is a Josephine Baker
Trust Artist, a Jackdaws Young Artist, and was also a Samling
Artist.
After graduating from the RAM Opera School in 2015, Tristan
went on to make his professional debut portraying the role of
Karl in the world premiere of David Bruce's Nothing, a
Glyndebourne community opera in association with the Royal
Opera House, Covent Garden and Balthazar in Donizetti's La
Favorite for University College Opera at London's Theatre
Royal.
As a keen recitalist and concert performer, Tristan has performed with notable ensembles
including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Hallé and the London Mozart
Players in venues such as Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Saint Martin in the Fields, St Johns'
Smith Square, Birmingham Symphony Hall and the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam. In
Wagner's bicentenary year, Tristan was invited by Sir Mark Elder to sing the role of
Hermann Ortel in the Hallé's concert performance of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and
was subsequently invited back for Mozart's Requiem at Bridgewater Hall. His oratorio
repertoire also includes Haydn's Nelson Mass, Paukenmesse, Theresienmesse, Missa
Cellensis and Salve Regina, Mozart's Mass in C Minor, Credo Mass, Coronation Mass, Missa
Brevis, and Vesperae Solennes de Condessore, Beethoven's Mass in C, and Symphony
No. 9 as well as Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem and Faure's Requiem.
On the operatic stage Tristan's repertoire includes Re di Scozia in Ariodante, Achilla in
Giulio Cesare, Somnus in Semele, the title role in Le Nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo and Don
Alfonso in Così fan tutte, Masetto and Leporello in Don Giovanni, Publio in La Clemenza di
Tito, Nick Shadow and Dr. Truelove in The Rake's Progress, Superintendent Budd in Albert
Herring, Bottom in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Marullo in Verdi's Rigoletto
for Nevill Holt Opera.
2016/2017 performances include Sergeant in Hartmann's Simplicius Simplicissimus with
Independent Opera at Sadler's Wells, Messiah on tour with the Irish Baroque Orchestra,
Theresienmesse with the City of London City, Mozart Requiem with Tonbridge Philharmonic
Society, Angelotti Tosca with Nevill Holt Opera and Escamillo in a concert performance of
Carmen with Tonbridge Philharmonic Society.
